PROBLEM
An existing building was being completely renovated to be the home of the new Seattle BMW Mini-Cooper Dealership. There were several flooring issues including the second floor which needed a floor light enough to be supported by the existing structure yet strong enough to serve as a second floor showroom holding several automobiles.

The existing substrates were in poor condition with various elevation differences in different parts of the building including the second floor, the ground floor service area and main showroom.
SOLUTION Working with the White Cap account manager in Seattle, ARDEX Sales Professional Don Richards reviewed the jobsite with Rushforth Construction, the general contractor for the project. Rushforth having worked with ARDEX products often in the past, chose to handle all the ARDEX installations and substrate preparation. Don provided cured samples, data sheets and made several jobsite visits to consult and provide additional training and recommendations.

The ARDEX LT-65™ Lightweight, Fast-Setting Concrete Floor System was installed as the underlayment system for the second floor showroom. ARDEX LT-65’s high-strength and lightweight attributes made it the ideal solution supporting the heavy weight of automobiles, but not adding extreme weight that may crush the foundation.

ARDEX K 301™ Exterior Self-Leveling Underlayment was used over 1,200 sq. ft. of on-grade areas to fill 1” deep areas near all entrances and around overhead doors. ARDEX SD-M™ Designer Floor Finish was used in the main showroom on the first level, on-grade and ARDEX CD FINE™ Concrete Dressing was used around the hydraulic lift areas in the service center as an accent color and texture.
5,000 sq. ft. of ARDEX FEATHER FINISH® Self-Drying, Cement-Based Finishing Underlayment was installed throughout the project, under the ARDEX SD-M and other floor finishes on the second floor.

The Project Superintendent commented that he has learned through experience never to use anything else but ARDEX regardless of other company’s claims. ARDEX gets it right the first time, every time!
